Establishment of the U.S. Embassy Youth Council

January 30, 2015. One day full of hope to do something good for the youth in Bulgaria. Young people are not only the future, they are also present.

What is the Youth Council

The Youth Council at the US Embassy in Sofia was established on January 30, 2015 by the Ambassador of the United States in Bulgaria – Marcie B. Ries.

We, the members of the Council, are a group of young, dynamic Bulgarians who have three main objectives:

  • To create opportunities for innovative young Bulgarian leaders to meet and exchange ideas with American, Bulgarian and international experts.

  • To provide concrete solutions to the problems the Youth in Bulgaria face.

Bulgaria’s young people today are freer and have more opportunities than any generation in Bulgarian history. That achievement did not come easily, and should not be underestimated… Mr. President, I would like to thank you again for the honor you have bestowed on me. I accept it as a tribute to the work we have done together, and as a symbol of the deep and lasting alliance between our countries.”
